I'm Lindsey.
I was born in South Korea in 1987, adopted at 7 months and have lived in Minnesota ever since.
I have always been a nerd in some form.
When I was in elementary school, my friends and I pretended we were animals and ran around the playground roaring and howling on all fours. We were pretty rad.
I've always been interested in creating art, but have never been interested in the art scene. Am not a supporter of digital or manipulated "art."
I was a straight-A student without trying hard, and people still resent me for it.
I've also always loved horseback riding. Started riding horses at age 5, saved up my money and bought my first horse, Gringo, when I was 12 and he was 2. Trained him myself. Saved up more money and bought my second horse, Griffin, in fall 2007 when he was four years old. Also am training him myself. I ride every day I can, don't compete often but love being outside on the trails, running fast and jumping high.
I worked as a stablehand at my horses' barn for three years (lots of hard physical work for not a lot of money, also a lot of dealing with other peoples' - and horses' - shit). Am now working at Barnes & Noble bookstore as a barista in the cafe, and for some reason I love it. Also got a job waitressing at a nice Japanese restaurant - I am probably not the world's greatest waitress, but the tip money makes up for the rest of the stress.
I'm a student at the U of M in the Twin Cities. Was an anthropology major, recently changed to a psychology major (focus in Equine Sports Therapy - planning to either be a counselor for rich, bratty equestrians in need of a trainer, or to help rehabilitate disabled kids at a hippotherapy center). I love learning, but hate being a student.
I'm an introvert.
I've never drank alcochol or done drugs, never plan to. Not a fan.
I love meat.
And Shyft.
And industrial music.

Check out my art. I'm a traditional artist, specializing in ink and graphite portraits and illustrations. What began as a series of anime fanart doodles gave way to a more mature Art nouveau-inspired style. I'm a published illustrator (Insightful Parenting: Making Moments Count by Dr. Steve Kahn) and more illustrations for Shyft's "Shyfted Dreaming" trilogy are in the works. I also design tattoos, T-shirts, and advertisements for companies like SmartTie, WCL, and Northwest Saddle Club.
I haven't really updated kaianart.com since last summer because I fail at web page design, so my DeviantART page is probably your best bet.
If anyone is looking for a tattoo design, portrait, or illustration, contact me! Email kaan.kaian@gmail.com.
